Lots of metal ends up in your engine during break in, especially if you are hard on it. I treated my grom almost exactly how the guidelines said and held off on all my mods until the 600 mile break in period. 15k miles later and it runs better than the day I got it. Do not run it hard on break in, that's my advice.
