The M. H. de Young Memorial Museum is an art museum in San Francisco 's Golden Gate Park. It is often called just the de Young Museum. It is named for early San Francisco newspaper publisher M. H. de Young. The museum opened in 1895. It was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
