I don't think there is grade deflation in the arts and sciences. 30% of students usually get an A in each class. Pretty bad, especially if premed, but Public Health has the stereotype of being the easy major. It's tough for engineering and hard stem but for social sciences & humanities it's not too bad at all.

Most classes follow the standard grade boundaries ie 93 -> A, 90 -> A-, 87 -> B+, etc. I've only heard of maybe 1 class that always gets curved (accelerated fundies 1 where the cutoff for an A is like low/mid 80s). I’d always thought grade deflation/inflation was a myth, but enough people believe in it that I’m curious if it actually happens. How bad is it, if it exist at Berkeley? Recently I also found out about how Princeton limits it’s number of “A” grades to something around 30% or so.
