It all depends on what 4L60E you get. 700 has 4 bolt adapter. old style 4L60E has 4 bolt adapter and same length found on 5.0/5.7. New style 4L60E has 6 bolt and about 3/4" longer. New style 4L60E has removable bell housing found on 4.8/5.3. You will need a torque converter spacer if you use old style 4L60E with 4.8/5.3.

The 4.2L isn't much of a truck engine I think. A Cadillac 500 is just too much engine for me in this truck but maybe I'll build one some day. When I'm done with the trucks I'm getting my wife a '57 Chevy so a 500 with maybe 6 speed would be a nice setup. The one in your truck has a different input spline size. Going 6L look for a k2500 in the yards that was hooked to a 6.0 for the nv4500.
